Re: Panning
What F stop are you using?

Re: Panning
Try it with a faster shutter speed Sarah, these look to be sub 1/100th (the traffic cones are mega blurred) which isn't that easy. Somewhere around 1/160th - 250th should get you more keepers.
Make sure you're using continuous focus as well, in fact I think there's a guide stickied at the top of this section.
Oh and hosting them on Facebook really won't be helping!

Re: Panning
Read Chris' guide firstly, then go for shutter priority and start off stupidly fast, like 1/400. Nail it, then drop one, nail that then drop another...etc. I can hit about 20% now at 1/100. Roughly 1% at 1/60.

I took this at 1/60 but tbh it needed to be at about 1/100. Just takes a lot of practice, I am still learning. I think the main thing is to keep the camera moving, even when the picture has been taken. I keep autofocus on and set the camera to take reccuring pictures, then just attempt to pan and end up with about 3 pictures. one of them is normally decent.

Another useful tool I use is this Exif viewer. If i see a picture I like the look out you can bang the URL in there and it will tell you the shutter speed and all the settings etc.
