Welcome to Petrolhead Nirvana

I'm not really sure what this article is; a product review, a journey write up, a Trophy praising session, or maybe a bit of all three. I'll jump straight in and see where the words take me... Bare in mind this is written from my drivers point of view, and every tour goer will have a different story to tell.

A few members are aware that this weekend I made a trip to Wales for a very special "Welsh Weekend". My wonderful girlfriend had been kind enough to purchase me a Petrolhead Nirvana (PHN) tour for Christmas this year, so on Friday 26th we packed our bags and loaded up the Trophy to head for a hotel in Mid Wales. I promised a write up so here goes:
People's opinion of your car

Are you effected by people's opinions?

Do you choose a car, or maybe the way you modify your car depending on the opinions of friends, family or maybe even the general public? Do you choose what you want and live with the reaction be it good or bad?

A friend got me thinking of this while I was showing him my new car and he asked me why would someone spend so much time and money on a Clio.

In his eyes it was a pointless task; taking a good little hot hatch and transforming it so far from what it was, but I think differently.

Some of us enjoy expressing our personality into our cars - making it different from the norm and trying

when is fast, too fast?

Driving back from visiting my partners parents in Wales this afternoon, (Which is a 2 1/2 hour drive at very best) with Claire and the kids fast aleep, I had time to have a good think about this.

In my 15 odd year driving career, I have been lucky enough to drive all types of car, and ( I can't believe I'm saying this) I think cars are getting too powerful.

When I passed my test in the late 90's, an Astra GTE or Renault 5 Turbo would have wiped the floor with pretty much anything - now we have rep-mobile diesels which would show either cars a clean pair of heels. It's not only depressing that Mr window salesman could laugh at you while he beats you off the lights while sipping his Costa coffee and

Road Tax - My point of view.

Road Tax, It doesn’t exist!

Over the past few years, the cost of running a car has increased greatly, with the increase in fuel prices, insurance and also ‘‘Road tax’’. I can accept the oil is running low excuse for people being too lazy to find more, and that we are probably at war with the people who can be bothered to find more. I can also accept that insurance is bound to increase, Because each year, more and more people are becoming drivers, and that means lots more bad drivers inevitably crashing. But as far as my road tax goes, It annoys me that I have to pay hundreds of pounds a year compared to some road users paying nothing.

Is there such a thing as the 'Perfect Car'?

It might sound a bit of an odd thing to say, but bear with me on this.

I mean ask any friend, car enthusiast - hell, even the guy at the check out counter in Tesco, 'whats the perfect car?' You will most likely get an answer along the following:

'Ah thats easy, the perfect car is a *Ferarri/Lambo/Maclaren/insert other supercar name here*

The thing is though, unless you are on a six figure salary, these cars aren't accessable, and even then you can't think of a near 7 foot wide Lambo with no rear view vison as 'perfect'.

To me, the perfect car need not be a jack of all trades, just good enough at some to capture your heart. Take

Private Parking Charges - The Facts (1st October 2012)

As some of you may know I work very closely with the Private Parking industry, so I thought a thread like this may be of some use to the members of CS.

Firstly I would like to point out that I do not work for a Private Parking Company and that I'm taking the time to post this thread to help other members understand the changes in law. I do NOT want this thread filled with peoples opinions on the Private Parking industry, nor do I want this thread littered with comments such as "Just ignore it, it will go away". This thread is for informational purposes on the changes in law and documentation provided by the Department For Transport, British Parking Association, Parking On Private Land Appeals and the Home Office. I will ask

Scotlands First 2013 Meet

After a slight lull in Scottish meets we kicked off 2013 with a bang (and a barge and more than one case of whiplash) and visited Xtreme Karting in Larbert on a freezing cold, dreich January morning.

Firstly Gaz85 and myself would like to thank everyone who came along and made it a great morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you all did too.

I'd also like to thank the BeTapp'd boys for coming along, supporting their fellow BT founder and taking plenty of pics which have been shared on the ClioSport Scotland FB page
